Updating/Maintenance
Ø
Link
Checker: The group discussed the need to come to a formal agreement on
how often each Center will check the links on each hub. Rick presented Paul Chalmer’s “Bad Links”
Database and the collection method that he is using to document bad links. Rick encouraged the Centers to participate
in this. On 11/6, Rick sent out the
spreadsheet that outlines how to document bad links.
q Action Item: Jini will poll the group to find out who is
checking links at this time and how often each Center is checking them.
Ø
Quality
Control: The group determined that it was necessary to revisit QA/QC. The group’s goal is to walk away from
San Diego with an agreed upon document that outlines QA/QC for the Topic
Hub. Crispin stated that she and Andy had worked on a QA/QC document
for the Topic Hub earlier in the year.
On 11/6, Crispin sent out this document and asks that folks add to the
list.
Ø
Storing
local copies of files: The group discussed the issue of storing local copies of
documents vs storing them in a central repository. P2Rx has three alternatives for storing copies; locally on their own server, nationally in
one place or not store them at all.
Currently, NEWMOA, P2RIC and WRRC store local copies. The goal for San Diego is to determine
if and where we will store cached files for the Topic Hub.
Ø
Present
ideas for Version 2.0: The group agreed that the goal for San Diego is to
walk out with a blueprint of what Version 2.0 of the Topic Hub will look like.
Ø Visioning the National
Programs Database:
Potential new activity measures to present to the Admin group
Beth
wants to see the use of the topic hubs charted using Web Trends
to
see how many hits the topic hubs are getting. As of yet no one is
measuring
this.
NPPR meeting in Charleston
Laura
is going to modify her Programs Database White Paper with the
comments
from Beth, Crispin and possibly Jean Waters. She will forward the
revised
version to Rick and Andy to share with the NPPR board.
