Review of the new program directory forms shows that all users are allowed to update their data. Prabin sent the latest update (as changed per Laura's suggestions). Prabin will implement a pseudo key feature (cftoken) to keep track of a user’s session. Prabin will write code to allow the user to get back to the first page after entering data. A roll call vote was taken to decide whether to have the edit option on programs page and not the main page. All centers voted yes. A second roll call vote was taken on whether to include Trade Association as a program type. All centers voted yes. On the next screen, should we include an option of “other” for each of the three choices and have users enter free text. All centers voted yes.
We should have process to review these “other” terms so we can keep up the list. The process could be the same as keyword procedure.
Change the wording on the form from “associate program” to “submit.” Laura commented that users don’t really know what a primary contact means. Prabin will get the form out to all centers.
Andy sent out a list on December 8, of programs that are designated as “international.” These need to be changed to the appropriate country name.
The week of May 9th will be the Web meeting for everyone. Thomas suggests Austin, Laura is interested in Minneapolis, Scott suggests Seattle, Pete suggests Reno, Curt suggests Asheville, Jean offers Omaha. No decision is made.
Programmers will meet at Tyler's place (University of Illinois) January 25-27 for three days of programming bliss. (for this meeting, programmers include Terry, Tyler, Prabin, Neena, and Scott)
Here's what they work on, in order of priority:
1) Resolve keywords
a) Reconcile existing disparity
b) Establish mechanism for centers to add new keywords
2) Automatically update programs directory to national directory
a) Make improvements (as requested from centers) to admin form (Prabin has done much here already)
b) Include form for users to update their data (verified by regional centers)
c) Resolve inconsistency among centers for program types and services
3) Allow all centers to share rating module featured on PPRC's Environmental Measurement Hub
4) Improve "sharability" of program directory with external partners.
5) News aggregator and news box for each center (this one is optional – do you guys want this?)
a) centers should be able to choose their own news stories to re-publish on their sites
b) allow for automatic removal from box or archive
c) implement "category" feature (input forms and RSS feed)
During the last four hours, each programmer will work with centers that aren't there (NEWMOA, Zerowaste, Peaks, WRPPN, and PPRC) to get all changes implemented (five programmers, five centers).
If a news aggregator can be programmed, it could reside on one site, go out and get the news from all centers. Every center could select news according to category or other filters. Admin group needs to further define the functional specification for news. It should include a short description of each feature, doesn’t have to be technical or formal but explicit.
