P2Rx Web Group Conference Call
Thursday, June 25th, 2009
Attendees: Beth Anderson (EPA), Jean Waters and Veronica Doga (P2Rx), Andy Bray and Nate Bisbee (NEWMOA), Curt McCracken (WRRC), Tyler Rubach (GLRPPR), Zac Fowler (P2RIC), and Chloe Birnel (PPRC)
Action Items:
Topic Hub Code - Picking up the links that are embedded in the narrative:
Embedded links in the narrative of Topic Hubs are not necessary a part of the Hub's database of links. Even if embedded links are in the database, current link-checking and fixing of links in the database does not fix them in the narratives. New code written by Nate will allow the links to be checked as part of the global link-checking process done by the P2Rx coordinator. There will be code around the embedded link which will actually retrieve the link from the database and connect the user to the link. There are about 800 links in the narrative that are not in the database. Rachel will add these links to the database. She will look at the existing list of links for the hub to see if the link was originally in the database and has just been updated in the database but not in the narrative. If she can't find it in the database or online, she'll deactivate the link in the narrative and notify the center, so they can update it. Nate added a memo field to database in admin form, so you can just paste the Topic Hub narrative (in html) there instead of hard coding it on your server.
P2 Results Database Code Updates:
NEWMOA is updating the P2 Results code to accommodate EPA, who asked to add some attributes so they can flag if a project is grant funded. NEWMOA will update the code to handle new data points and post it to the CVS. If centers have any questions, they can discuss it with NEWMOA. Andy expects centers can make the update within a week of when he sends it out.
Counting Cookies:
Nate said that they are getting more people take cookies that use the feedback page. Most people are closing the pop-up window, but the number that reply to the question is still higher than the number who take the static feedback survey. They are still working on figuring out how to track cookies using WebTrends.
Feedback Page Update:
Curt asked if it is ok for centers to include the link to the static feedback page with the follow up on rapid response. Jean said that it is a great idea, but it would be good to keep track of people who went online and took the survey versus the ones who answered through rapid response follow-up. Ora, in the coordinator's office, can create a new survey link for any center that needs one for follow-up with rapid response or with their advisory boards or workshop participants.
Free Keyword Feature Update:
Andy said that during the last round of upgrades they disabled the feature to add "free keywords" on Topic Hubs. They have received some requests to reinstate the feature. Andy also said that they are working to figure out how to update data to reflect the changes over time, also how to link the keywords with the free keyword feature so they would work together, and add the keywords that are not on the list. Free keywords go to central key words list, but they are still working on how to incorporate them into the central keyword database. It still has to be determined after Laura Barnes does her review of the keywords (accept/reject) what should be done next? So if she rejects a term, it goes back and notifies the person that they are not allowed to use this term. But what if Laura wants to give them a suggestion for another word, how do they deliver this info to the centers?
P2 Program Directory:
NEWMOA is working on the following items:
- Mechanism for NPPR to flag its members
- Two tiers within the database to display the primary/core programs at the top, and then everybody else.
- Keep programs that are only in the database for purposes of "where to go for P2 help" but don't display them as part of the National P2 directory.
