Abstract: This research helps bridge the gap between EMS theory and business
practices. Its goals were to identify challenges associated with training and awareness components of an ISO-based EMS and to propose training initiatives that may help organizations achieve successful EMS implementation. These goals were fulfilled through a case study of Vancouver International Airport Authority.

Culture Change and Environmental Leadership at Ft. Lewis Washington
Abstract: Fort Lewis was the first Army installation to strategically enhance its existing programs through the implementation of an internationally certified systems approach to environmental management. The Public Works Directorate's EMS received ISO 14001 certification in September 2000.
